'Back to Basics' Yoga and Pilates Retreat - Guildford, Surrey

This retreat is for anyone wanting to refresh their knowledge on the basics of yoga and Pilates or learn them for the first time. It will also be useful for those with an existing practice that would like to 'refine' certain postures or Pilates movements.
We will be working in a small group (nine people maximum) so there will be time for questions and discussion. Handouts will also be provided for your reference following the retreat. Sally will be available throughout the weekend for any questions that might arise and is happy to suggest a yoga or Pilates sequence for you to do following the retreat.

About the Classes

Yoga
The Yoga classes are taught by Sally Parkes and are a combination of energising Dynamic Yoga in the morning followed by a more restorative practice of Hatha yoga later in the day. The emphasis of the classes will be on alignment and working with your postural type.

Pilates
Pilates is an exercise method that is great for working the core area of the body including the abdominal area. It is very effective in reducing lower back pain and improving the muscle tone of the lower abdomen and pelvic floor in particular.
Yoga Nidra: Yogic Sleep
Yoga Nidra (meaning 'yogic sleep') is a form of deep relaxation and is offered before bed to encourage restful sleep so you will feel refreshed & renewed both mentally & physically.

Pranayama:
Breath Control
During the Yoga lessons we will also practice breathing techniques that will assist your yoga and Pilates practice by calming the nervous system & energising body and mind.

About the Venue

Kilnhanger is situated within an area of outstanding natural beauty.
The house is set high up in beautiful  woodland with stunning views of the Surrey Hills.  glorious sunsets and an abundance of bird life are often  seen from the house. Surrounded by 40 acres of fields,  woodland, orchards and gardens, there are many idyllic  spots to sit and unwind.

About the Food

We understand and respect the important role it plays in the promotion of wellness and general good health. At Kilnhanger fresh, organic eco-friendly food and food products are used wherever possible. The retreat includes three tasty vegetarian meals per day, afternoon snacks and juices as well as herbal teas throughout the weekend.

3pm. Arrival.
5-6.15pm: Welcome and Hatha Yoga class.
7-8pm: Dinner
8.30-9.15pm Yoga Nidra (Deep Relaxation)

Sunday
7.45-9am: Dynamic Yoga class
9.15-10am: Breakfast
12pm-1pm: Pilates class
1.15--2pm: Lunch
Free time and farewell.
3pm: Depart.

Saturday
7.45-9am: Dynamic Yoga class
9.15-10am: Breakfast
12pm-1pm: Pilates class
1.15-2pm: Lunch
2-5.30pm Free time to relax or explore the local area
5.15-6.45pm: Hatha Yoga.
7-8pm: Dinner

Cost

The cost of  the weekend is £289 per person sharing a twin or triple room. If you are coming alone, you will share a room with a yogi or yogis of the same sex. Please note single rooms are very limited and are offered at extra cost on a first come first served basis. This cost includes all classes, accommodation, meals, snacks and drinks.

All food is vegetarian and we can cater for food intolerances/allergies upon request. (request must be made prior to the retreat please)
